Power of prayer

Wonderful article from Six Measures of Barley blog which reminds us that our prayers are answered but in a far greater wonderful way which is for our good and God’s glory. Take hope when it seems that God is silent. He is always in action and always with you. Wait patiently and trust that he will do as he promised. No good does God ever withhold for those who belong to him!

God Does Not Delay

Many times, in my life I’ve wondered why God didn’t intervene earlier for an issue. I thought if the Lord stepped in earlier, my problem could’ve been prevented or at least less complicated. Then, He taught me that He did answer my prayer, but in His time. If I didn’t go through the valley, I would never reach the mountain. Yes, the Lord could have made my life simpler, but then, I would not experience the wondrous works of His hands in my life.

2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness…”

The Lord does not slack. The word of God says that He makes all things beautiful in His time. We, as humans, are often impatient. We want God to have intervened yesterday, so that we wouldn’t be facing the difficult situation today.

Mary and Martha, the sisters of Lazarus told Jesus, “Lord, if thou had been here, my brother would not have died.” John 11: 21 & 32. Jesus was good friends with Lazarus and his sisters. When Lazarus became sick, his sisters sent word to Jesus, in the hope that He will come and heal him. But Jesus said the sickness is “for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.” John 11: 4. Moreover, Jesus stayed extra two days in the same place he was at. Jesus came to Lazarus’ home four days after he had died. And those who were gathered there said “Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?” Jesus could have come in early and healed Lazarus, but then the community would not get to witness the tremendous power of God. They would not have been able to see a corpse coming to life through Jesus. The Son of God was glorified that day, in a greater magnitude because Jesus came in His time. Lazarus’ sisters and the mourners thought it was too late and that Jesus should have come sooner, but Jesus foresaw the events and His disciples’ faith was strengthened and people witnessed the power of resurrection.

We can look at the life of Joseph. Joseph set out to find the well-being of his brothers at the request of his father. Due to jealousy, his brothers threw him into a pit and although his brother Reuben plans to rescue him, he is sold to the Ishmeelites before he can help. He is then taken to Egypt and is falsely accused of assault and subsequently imprisoned. He is then known to be able to interpret dreams and taken up to the Pharaoh, who elevates him to a position of second in power. Through his position, people’s lives, including his brothers’ was saved from a great famine. If Joseph was not cast into the pit, if he was not imprisoned, he would have never become the 2nd in command to the Pharaoh of Egypt. God could have stopped Joseph from going to his brothers; He could have allowed Reuben to return in time to deliver Joseph from the pit; He could have prevented him from going to the prison. If God intervened earlier, Joseph would never go from a simple Jewish boy to a powerful Egyptian leader.

If Jesus intervened before Lazarus had died, the Son of God would not been glorified in public. If Joseph’s trials were prevented, he would not become a leader and many lives would have been lost in the famine.

When we feel answers are delayed, know that God does not slack. Our delay is God’s right time.

God Bless!

We are living in times of darkness and evil. The enemy is seeking to bring down those who belong to Christ. Believers are members of one body in Christ. When one member suffers, we all do. I am asking for prayer for Pastor Saeed Abedini, an American citizen, who was arrested and imprisoned in Iran where he went to visit his family. He has been tortured for his faith locked in a dungeon cell. On Monday, January 21st, Pastor Saeed will face a judge in Iran known as the “hanging judge”. We must keep Saeed in prayer and petition our elected officials to do all that they can to demand that Saeed be returned safely from Iran! He is an American citizen who lives in Idaho with his wife and children. There should be outrage from our government. I pray that you all will keep this story going until Saeed is set free.  We need your voice to be heard!

TEHRAN, IRAN (ANS) — A letter from Saeed Abedini, a U.S. minister imprisoned in Iran, has made its way, through family members, to the Assemblies of God national offices in the United States.

The letter, carried out from Iran’s notoriously brutal Evin Prison, in northwestern Tehran, tells of beatings and interrogations, around-the-clock bright lights and ongoing lies designed to create hope, in order to crush it.

According to a story from Dan Van Veen of the AG News & Information Service (www.ag.org), “The remarkable letter also reveals a depth of faith and compassion that could only be granted by God.”

Pastor Saeed Abedini, a U.S. minister, has been imprisoned in Evin Prison in Tehran for his faith since Iranian authorities removed him from a bus in September 2012 while he was visiting his homeland.

I know that there are a lot of ladies out there who are hurting from an abortion, so I just wanted to put this blog up for those who are hurting.

I wanted to share an email that a good friend in Christ shared with another friend of mine who was praying for someone she knew who was seriously considering abortion.  He emailed this out to her very early in the AM and I thought that it might help someone out there.  Feel free to comment and I will be sure to forward your comments to Marc.  He may even comment back to you on the blog page.  May the Lord do an amazing work in the lives of people thinking about or have had and abortion.

“Hello, Well as time ticks by I’ve been prompted a number of times tonight to email my experience to you. So as always I’m slow to listen it 1:45 am. I hope this doesn’t come to late and sound to corny. Use if you think it will help and if not I understand. I’ve never wrote it out before, well here we go. I came to Christ at 37 years old “8 years ago” and before that lead a some what wild life. At one point I gave someone money for a abortion “not my baby” but gave the money and means to go forward with it. And one was mine and the mother decided she did not want a child, I figured it was her body and her choice, although we did talk about the options. We opted for the abortion.

After coming to faith I never really repented or took responsibility for my part in this whole thing. I’m sure God was trying to get me to take responsibility but remember I’m a little slow to listen. The night God decided to nudge me, I want to make clear I had NOT watched a movie or read anything or had any thing that would of triggered my experience. As Paul said “whether in the body or out of the body I do not know” I call it a dream but a dream of like I have never experienced, so vivid so real. First I’m in heaven and I hear God’s voice tell me I must take responsibility for my actions, he never said what, but some how I knew. I start crying and said I’m was so sorry and that I didn’t understand. And asked him to please forgive me. Then he told me I need to tell them and I raised my head and saw two little kids running toward me. I fell to my knee’s and wrapped my arms around them sobbing. I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry I kept saying and that I didn’t understand. Please forgive me. This went on for a minute or two. Then I woke up sobbing so uncontrollably that I was gasping for breath. It took me 15 to 20 minutes just to settle down and stop crying and catch my breath. I was gasping so hard that I was somewhat hyperventilating. I know it sound a little strange but it was the most humbling experience of my life.

As a guy we don’t like to talk about crying but it was crying on a whole new level for me, I had never cried like that. But that’s what happens when God brings us to accountability and you face your sin and your pride is stripped away. I don’t know where this young lady is with her walk with Christ but I do know this that one day she to will stand before Christ and have to answer for her choice one way or another. I’m not trying to scare her but trying to inform her that her baby is alive in God’s eyes and it wants to live. And know this if you make the right choice it may not be easy but God will honor it. God loves you and wants you to live with out regrets. Regrets that can haunt you and “us” for a life time. I do know that the one woman has had a hard time getting over her abortion and feels great guilt. When you look back some day, if you choose to give your baby life, I know one thing you won’t have guilt hanging over you. Most likely it will be the best decision you ever make or at least one of them.

I will continue to Pray and if you guys need to talk or would like to talk, please call.

God Bless, Marc”

Hello Ladies, I just wanted to pass this link on for you to read.  I warn you, some of the pictures are hard core, but none the less very much a reality.  God bless and may this spur you to action in regards to your faith.  Bromalachi

Making time for what is important!

Where does all of our time go?  There just  seems to be  so much going on in the lives of today’s women that  finding time to meet with God in quiet prayer can sometimes be put on the back burner.  With work, families and the usual daily struggles, it is easy to reason to ourselves that God knows our heart and understands that we just don’t have enough hours in the day to get things done.  That sounds good, but sadly this manner of thinking comes with a cost.

All through the gospels, we are told of how Jesus would go off  to a place of solitude to pray.  In Mark 1:35, we read that Jesus got up very early in the morning while it was still dark to pray.  Jesus didn’t stand around waiting for the devil to come and tempt him.  He received the  strength he would need from first meeting in prayer with his Father in heaven.  Jesus told his disciples that he could do nothing by himself but only what he saw the Father doing.  He  came as the Savior of this world and yet he began each day in quiet repose before God.  This is the example he left for us. There should be nothing more important in our own lives than to do the same.

One of Satan’s powerful weapons is to tempt us as women to stay busy.  By distracting our minds with the endless tasks that have to get done, the enemy can persuade us to take our eyes off God and his strength. Now there is nothing wrong with working, raising a family and meeting the challenges of each day. That is to be expected.  You run into trouble when you make what you do a greater priority than your fellowship with God.  Neglecting your time in prayer leaves you vulnerable to attack.  As the enemy seeks to rob you of your joy, you will begin seeing your problems as being bigger than your God .  The peace that you once had in your walk with God will become ensnared with the struggles that each day brings.

In Mark 6: 30-31, the apostles gathered around Jesus to report all they had done on the journey they were sent on.  But they were surrounded by so many people coming and going that they didn’t get a chance to eat.  Jesus told them something that I believe is  important for us today.  He said, ” Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest”.

That is a powerful message.   Meeting with Jesus in a quiet place is where you will are filled with his peace to get through the day.   You bring glory to God as you seek his counsel and direction for all that you face.   The Creator of this earth desires to have fellowship with you.  He wants to give you all that is good and to lead you in the paths that he has set for you before you were born.  But you must be willing to listen for his still, quiet voice as you spend time in his presence.  He is willing to take you through all of your struggles.  Even a loveless, broken marriage can be mended and restored by the right hand of God who hears the prayers of a woman who believes.  The greatest gift you can give your children is to teach them this truth.  You can touch eternity with the life of one child that was taught early to seek the will of God in all things.

What the enemy does not want you to know is that you will get more done in your day if you begin it on your knees before God.  Who had a bigger agenda of things to be done than Jesus?  And yet not one of them was begun until AFTER he met with the Father!  And yet he finished each task completely. That message of truth  needs to be understood  by everyone,  especially  busy women.

If you are feeling overwhelmed in your life and you are stressed by all that has to be done each day, it may be that you are trying to carry your own burdens.  That was never God’s way.  His purpose in coming to this earth was to leave you his peace as he works his perfect plan out in your life despite what comes against you.  He has promised to be with you to the end.  Instead of trying to fit Christ into your life,  ask him to help you put your life into his!

Dear Lord Jesus,  I pray that any woman who is struggling with demands on her time, or who is just overwhelmed with life itself, will feel your presence as you draw her into a deeper fellowship with you.  May your peace and rest fill her and may she know that nothing can stop the purpose and plan that you died to give her.  Amen
